To save the Colossus, Kitty must marry Caliban! A wedding is one thing, but can Kitty really spend the rest of her life in the catacombs?

The NYPD had found Kitty Pryde’s body outside the Baxter Building, prompting Wolverine, Storm, and Rogue to visit the morgue to identify it. Wolverine quickly realizes the body is not Kitty, noting that it smells wrong, a suspicion Storm supports as they deduce Masque is responsible. At the same time, a mysterious scanning wave from outer space strikes Professor X, echoing similar events occurring across the Marvel Universe.

Meanwhile, in the Morlocks’ tunnels, Kitty is on the verge of being married to Caliban. She resists the union, but Callisto reminds her of the promise she once made. Kitty meets Leech for the first time and comes to realize she must honor her word. When the X-Men arrive to rescue her, Kitty agrees to remain with the Morlocks if they'll save Colossus's life. Rogue absorbs Colossus’s powers to revert him to flesh, allowing the Morlock Healer to restore him. Though Kitty initially agrees to return with Caliban, he ultimately releases her from the promise, finally realizing that she would be miserable living underground.
